We are seeking a Business Controller for the eVigilant business located in the Manassas, Virginia office.

 

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Business Controller is to ensure outstanding quality and cost-effectiveness of all transactional accounting and treasury operations through technology, continuous improvement, best practices and data-driven management.  This position is a process owner and will have responsibility for aligning all technical accounting, policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Responsibilities:

The Controller reports to the CFO and will manage eVigilant Finance team. The primary responsibility of this role is to run day-to-day accounting, manage the project accounting process, and oversee the cash flow of the company.  Other primary duties are as follows:

  • Lead monthly close process for the company and prepare timely GAAP-compliant financial statements. 
  • Produce monthly non-GAAP financial metrics and KPIs for the CFO, Senior Management and in support of the Board of Directors meeting.
  • On behalf of finance, lead the quarterly EAC process to ensure an accurate at-completion projection of significant projects. 
  • Serve in a leadership role in the annual budget process and update of the business financial forecast as required.
  • Develop annual provisional indirect rates.  Monitor and update during the year as required.
  • Manage the treasury process to ensure a current view of liquidity and cash needs. 
  • Play a support key role in modifying financial systems to suit the business including, changes required to align the business with external reporting requirements. Priority should be given to automated reporting and leveraging the ERP system to produce required information.
  • Main point of contract for external and internal audits.  Responsible for coordinating information or stakeholders in supporting the process.
  • Coordinates eVigilant information for annual corporate tax filing or local business tax filings.
  • Assist the CFO with special projects as required.
  • Help drive performance against applicable management metrics and continuously improve the record-to-report processes, including shortening the existing closing schedule.
  • Ensure a rigorous financial controls environment within the business to maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and to protect the company’s assets.
  • Establish or modify new policies and procedures to ensure the back-office supports a rapidly growing business.
  • Help promote a culture of high performance and healthy collaboration by demonstrating integrity, respect, excellence, a customer focus and a winning attitude.
  • Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships, especially with the Program/Project Management team to ensure they are fully supported.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with solid financial background
  • 10+ years of experience managing a customer-service oriented accounting function with experience in GAAP accounting, project accounting, financial budgeting, forecasting, developing processes/procedures, and relationship management.
  • Experience in leading change to achieve process excellence and performance improvement
  • Capacity to evaluate, understand and problem solve issues with an ability to make complex ideas or situations clear and easy to understand.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel.
  • Solid communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization and to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • CPA a plus
