    Evolver is seeking a Cable Technician to join our team working in Washington, DC. 


    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    In this role, you would provide the following support:


    • Be part of the of the cable team, whose responsibility will be installing, repairing, documenting and labeling data-cable infrastructure of the Agency
    • Perform site survey support for installation of Agency network drops;
    • Conduct reviews of problem records to ensure Service Level Agreements are met and develops plans for compliance with and ensures staff familiarity with Agency and Data Center asset management procedures; 
    • Install new Agency network drops throughout the Agency campus to include testing of the drops; 
    • Supports the cable requirements of servers being attached to the network in the Agency Data Operations Center;
    • Analyze assigned tasks and provide estimated time frames to complete to the Cable Manager or designated representative;
    • Support installation of new drops (copper and fiber) throughout client site to include testing of the network drops and fiber installations;
    • Work with a cable installation and maintenance team using basic knowledge of CAT6 standards to perform installations, cross-connects, moves, add, and changes of cable drops;
    • Install, reconfigure, and maintain telecommunications closets and cable trunks;
    • Install and maintain fiber optic backbone cabling;
    • Troubleshoot common cable problems using fault isolation.

    Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

    In order to be successful in this job, we expect you to have the following skills and experience: 


    • 3-5 years of Cable experience, fiber optic is preferred.
    • Experience working with ST, SC, LC fiber optic connectors
    • Knowledge of CAT6 standards;
    • Experience with fault isolation;
    • Knowledge OSHA regulations;
    • ST, SC, MT-RJ fiber optic connectors experience;
    • Gigabit Ethernet experience preferred; not required;
    • Fluke DTX-1800 and DTX-5000 Series testers experience a plus;
    • Corning experience and Fluke Opti-Fiber experience a plus.
    • Experience working in confined spaces both as Entrant or as Attendant

    Technical Requirements (required and desired)


    • Experience with Windows 7, Windows 10 and Microsoft Office required.

    Training and Certifications (required and desired)

    - BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) Standards knowledgeable or Certified;
    - Corning Fiber Certification is desired.

    • Ability to pass Agency Confined Spaces training
