Evolver is seeking an Installation Engineer (Hardware Specialist – Information Technology) to work in Bowie, Maryland

 

Must have the ability to obtain a Census Clearance, as such, must be a US Citizen

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

Evolver is seeking an experienced, motivated Hardware Engineer familiar with datacenter infrastructure.  We have a position open at a Federal Tier 2 Data Center to assist in the management of Enterprise level compute and storage resources as well as installation architecture, and technical hardware issues.  The candidate will work with team members who possess diverse backgrounds (systems engineering, system administration, storage engineering) and will be part of a Government contractor team working at Census Data Center.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with Blade, Rack, and Converge Servers and Storage including but not limited to IBM, Cisco, Brocade, Oracle, using both Fiber and Copper cabling
  • Perform and coordinate all aspects of preparation and installation of site specific systems including:
  • Provide hardware installation schedules and reports
  • Coordinate the testing and release new firmware versions
  • Generate and maintain inventory and reports
  • Coordinate site installations across teams
  • Receive and validate equipment matches the PO.
  • Maintain firmware versions on all production systems in the compatibility firmware matrix
  • Ensure driver version compliance and coordinate the test and release of firmware changes
  • Maintain configuration management records
  • Ensure adherence to the WIKI compatibility matrix for blade installation from existing inventory
  • Perform EDC code updates on blade installations from existing inventory
  • Configure the advanced management module (AMM) and trunk to the network
  • Gather error logs from AMM and communicate with technical support personal and vendors
  • Troubleshooting problems with operational hardware by identifying, tracking, and implementing solutions to prevent a reoccurrence.
  • Place third party hardware service calls, download/upload diagnostics, track issues (24/7/365) and work with vendors to resolve hardware issues and track to resolution

 

 

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Candidate must have the following knowledge, experience, and abilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline (In lieu of education the education 10+ years of total IT experience is required.)
    • Must be able to work in a matrix team environment.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Must have presentations skills to convey designs, training material directed to all level of management and technical staff
    • Must have large data center experience

 Ability for some travel locally from Bowie site to the Suitland Federal Center may be required.
