Evolver is seeking a Security Administrator to join our group in Washington, D.C.  - Ability to obtain a Government Clearance is required.

 

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position serves in the Information Technology Division of Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Architect of the Capitol and assists the Information System Security Officer with security administration concerning safeguarding the confidentiality, reliability and accessibility of networks, and information through the design, study, execution, upkeep, and development of systems, agendas, policies, processes, and tools. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides advice and makes recommendations as an authoritative leader in the cyber security, networks, and networks operations space;
  • Provides design, architecture, and engineering technical direction and leadership;
  • Recommends solutions to the most difficult security problems in existing systems and systems development;
  • Applies or assists with application of formal methods in security architecture, security system design and engineering, and security technology integration and deployment;
  • Leads and participates in security tests and evaluations, studies, and experiments;
  • Conducts technical and management briefings;
  • Oversees and directs complex technical tasks.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Duties include:
Evolver, Inc. is looking for a full-time Security Administrator with functional knowledge in all areas of cybersecurity, but in particular the federal cybersecurity guidance documents including OMB Memorandums, FISMA, and NIST Special Publications. The successful candidate should have hands-on experience in cybersecurity as well as experience in an ISSO role. Candidates should also have experience designing, planning, implementing, tuning and operating IT security technologies including IDS systems, Firewalls, Proxies, AV systems, and more. The right candidate shall know and follow all applicable Policies and Procedures, Federal regulations and related rulings applicable to the systems under their charge. 

Daily Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting staff in determining priorities and ensuring adequacy of project plans; technical proposals; and the analysis, design, testing, debugging, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of software and systems;
  • Coordinating maintenance and support activities of an automated information system with IT specialists, project managers, and functional users to ensure system adequacy and efficiency;
  • Identifying and formulating plans to resolve problems by applying new and evolving technology;
  • Serving as a security specialist with responsibility for coordinating a variety of complex and unusual information security issues;
  • Developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data and monitoring and evaluating systems’ compliance with IT security policies and requirements;
  • Providing advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems;
  • Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs;
  • Promoting awareness of security issues among management and ensuring sound security principles are reflected in organizations’ visions and goals;
  • Conducting systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews and developing systems security contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures;
  • Developing and implementing programs to ensure that systems, network, and data users are aware of, understand, and adhere to systems security policies and procedures;
  • Participating in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies;
  • Facilitating the gathering, analysis, and preservation of evidence used in the prosecution of computer crimes and assessing security events to determine impact and implements corrective actions;
  • Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive quality assurance program for diverse platforms covering file back-up and recovery, equipment maintenance, and quality control of systems processing and outputs;
  • Ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services;
  • Planning and delivering customer support services including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training in response to customer requirements.

Technical Requirements (required and desired)

Key Skills: 

  • Risk/Compliance according to NIST, FISMA, FISCAM, FedRAMP, and OMB guidelines;
  • Cloud Technologies and Security;
  • Web Applications and Web Application Security;
  • Security operations expertise, including security mechanisms such as firewalls, intrusion detection, log management, event and malicious code analysis;
  • Virtualization Technology;
  • IT Security Auditing;
  • IT Security Architecture;
  • Disaster Recovery Planning and Management.

 

Mandatory Qualifications (applicants must meet these minimum requirements to be considered):

  • Experience with Nessus, C&A/A&A, Information Assurance, NIST;
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required;
  • (ISC)2 CISSP certification desired;
  • Minimum five (5) years IT experience;
  • Minimum three (3) years of cybersecurity experience.

Training and Certifications (required and desired)

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a government clearance is required;
  • Able to pass a Federal drug screening;
  • Ability to perform work duties on-site. There is no option for teleworking or remote work;
  • 1099 or Corp-to-Corp candidates will not be considered per client requirements.
